Training Methods and how to apply them

Our trainers are experienced in both positive reinforcement and balanced training methods.
Positive reinforcement focuses on rewarding the behaviors we want to see more of, building confidence and motivation in a fun and encouraging way. Balanced training also uses rewards as the foundation but, when needed, incorporates fair boundaries and clear communication tools to help guide dogs effectively. This combination allows us to adapt our approach to each dog’s unique temperament and learning style, always prioritizing safety, respect, and long-term success. We also respect each dog’s needs and each owner’s wishes, while being guided by our trainers’ expertise when it comes to implementing any type of tool.

Derrick’s Story

Derrick's journey into the world of dog training was ignited by his innate passion for animals and his background in teaching and training. Formerly, he worked in the healthcare field, maintaining and repairing medical equipment while also instructing nurses on their usage and guiding new hires in performing procedures like venipuncture.
Despite his success in this field, his heart was drawn to a different path, one that involved his lifelong affinity for dogs. Observing an opportunity at a facility specializing in dog training, Derrick took a leap of faith and transitioned from his role as a Licensed Vocational Nurse and machine technician to become a kennel technician. It didn't take
long for his potential to shine, and within three months, he was offered the chance to delve into dog training — an offer he enthusiastically embraced, marking the beginning of his fulfilling career in the canine world.
Under the mentorship of two master trainers, Derrick honed his skills and understanding of canine behavior. Additionally, he pursued formal education in animal behavior through Holly and Hugo Animal Behavior College, earning a certificate that validated his expertise in the field. Throughout his career, Derrick has found particular joy in behavioral training and basic obedience, relishing the opportunity to nurture the bond between dogs and
their owners. He also delights in teaching fun and impressive tricks, recognizing the value of enrichment and mental stimulation in a dog's life.
