Frequently
asked questions
We understand that dog owners may have questions about our services and how we can help enhance their furry companion's behavior and happiness. Below, you'll find answers to some of the most common inquiries.

How do I begin the training process?
Contact us using the form on our website, give us a call or email so we can schedule a free phone consultation and discuss the best program for your dog.

Which program suits me and my dog?
Unfortunately this question does not have a simple answer! The right program for your dog will depend on various factors such as age, training history and behavioral issues.

How long are the programs?
Our programs vary in length due to being customized to meet your dog’s specific needs. Our pet consultants will discuss program length with you upon your free initial consultation.

Where will my dog be staying?
Dogs stay in our trainer’s homes, along with other furry friends. Each dog will have access to ample exercise, treats, toys, tons of training, and love.

What training methods do you use?
At Wag Mates Academy, we tailor our training approach to meet both your dog’s needs and your preferences as an owner. Our experienced trainers offer positive reinforcement-only training or a balanced training approach, ensuring the right fit for each dog. Most importantly, every pup is trained with care, responsibility, and plenty of love to create lasting, positive results.

How much will training cost?
Training cost is based upon program length. This is something your pet consultant can discuss with you during the free phone consultation.

Do you have payment plans?
Absolutely! We offer payment plans in partnership with AFFIRM and KLARNA.

Do I expect post-training homework?
We are dedicated to your dog’s success and will provide you with free limited private-sessions and other resources.

Which vaccines are mandatory for my dog to have?
Before the training, your dog is required to have the DHLPP, Bordatella, and Rabies vaccines. Ensuring your dog's vaccinations are up-to-date helps maintain a safe and healthy training environment.

What preparations do I need to make before the training?
To prepare for the training, you will receive a packing list a week before the program starts. This list will include various items, any required medication for your dog (if applicable), as well as necessary toiletries.
