Training Methods and how to apply them

Our trainers are experienced in both positive reinforcement and balanced training methods.
Positive reinforcement focuses on rewarding the behaviors we want to see more of, building confidence and motivation in a fun and encouraging way. Balanced training also uses rewards as the foundation but, when needed, incorporates fair boundaries and clear communication tools to help guide dogs effectively. This combination allows us to adapt our approach to each dog’s unique temperament and learning style, always prioritizing safety, respect, and long-term success. We also respect each dog’s needs and each owner’s wishes, while being guided by our trainers’ expertise when it comes to implementing any type of tool.

Max’s Story

Max earned his Dog Obedience Instructor certification with honors from Animal Behavior College in 2014. He has worked extensively in shelters, most notably as a Pet Behavior Trainer at North Shore Animal League America, where he specialized in handling dogs with behavior issues, including resource guarding and reactivity. His experience also includes basic obedience training and helping dogs overcome unwanted behaviors. Max is particularly interested in working with dogs that exhibit resource guarding, reactivity, and other defensive behaviors, helping them overcome fear-based issues. He also has significant experience in basic obedience training and enjoys the challenge of turning socalled "aggressive" dogs into loving companions.
