Source of Inspiration
Mercedes was inspired to become a dog trainer by her lifelong obsession with plants and animals. Growing up around cats and dogs, she noticed typical behavior and obedience problems in dogs at boarding facilities. This motivated her to find ways to help improve the lives of pets, their owners, and the facilities themselves.
Professional Experience
Mercedes' professional experience began at boarding facilities, where she learned about dog behavior. She then progressed to running doggie daycares, creating safe practices for dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments. In 2015, she started her dog training career at PetSmart and has since worked for various training facilities. She has obtained multiple certifications, including IACP and FearFree, which have since required renewal. Currently, she trains independently and for other companies.
Unleashing Expertise
Mercedes specializes in behavior modification and basic/intermediate obedience. She has a particular interest in utility training and has expanded her skills to training her personal cats. Her cats notify her when they need to use the restroom by sitting or knocking at the door, eliminating the need for litter boxes. Additionally, her dog Sisco can identify and bring various toys or objects to her feet or hand when asked.
Future Forecast
In five years, Mercedes envisions herself delving deeper into utility training and expanding her services to include training other types of animals. She aims to branch further into this specialized training aspect, offering comprehensive training solutions for a variety of animals.
