Source of Inspiration
From a young age, Stacey was drawn to dogs of all kinds and found joy in training not only her own pets but also those of friends and family. After college, her journey into training deepened when she adopted a reactive and aggressive Dachshund. The challenges of working with this dog led her to consult with various trainers, immerse herself in books, and travel to workshops, sparking a passion for understanding the science of training. This transformative experience became the foundation of Stacey’s commitment to helping dogs and their owners.

Professional Experience
Stacey began her professional training career in 1995 by teaching classes for shelter volunteers and adopters, focusing on addressing problem behaviors and promoting proactive training and socialization. She went on to help develop the first Therapy Dog Program in Rockland County, providing advanced obedience and handling skills for visits to libraries, hospitals, nursing homes, and schools. Her expertise expanded to collaborating with organizations like NY Presbyterian Hospital and, since 2021, training teams for the NYC Department of Education Comfort Dog Program.

Unleashing Expertise
Stacey has a strong interest in helping dog owners achieve reliable obedience in high-distraction environments and working with dogs facing serious fear, reactivity, and aggression issues. She is equally passionate about training therapy dog teams and implementing Animal Assisted Intervention techniques. Stacey’s judgment-free and open-minded teaching style encourages owners to ask questions and make informed decisions about their dogs’ training, ensuring every session is a collaborative and positive experience.

Future Forecast
In the next five years, Stacey plans to continue training family dogs and therapy dog teams while expanding her support for other trainers as they develop their skills. She aims to further collaborate with rescue groups, providing educational opportunities for staff and volunteers to positively impact more dogs. Stacey also plans to remain an active learner, attending classes and workshops to ensure she continues to grow as a trainer and teacher, reinforcing her belief that being a student is key to being a great instructor.
